Hi peekobooicu,
I'm not sure theses questions are in your field of expertise but I'm looking for answers to the following:
1. Who identifies a deceased body if there are no family living near-by, in the state?
2. What would be put on a death certificate of a person who is said to died of accidental drowning in a bath tub?
3. Does a coroner examine the body and determine the cause of death if no autopsy is required?
4. How long till civilians are allowed to enter the place where the death (if death was sited an accident) occured and live there?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Question #1
If no family members are available to identify the body then they would go to either landlord ot neighbors or emplyer/employees. But if NO ONE can ID the body, they will, at least in my city, bury the person either as a Jane/John Doe until such time as they do a sketch of the deceased person and advertise in all papers.
Q#2
In my city, it would be labelled as an ACCIDENTAL drowning.Sorry I couldn't be a bit more informative and maybe someone else can answer that one clearer.
Q#3
The coroner does examine the body and can make a judgment call on the cause of death but I think, don't hold me too it, but if there is a discrepency, there will have to be an autopsy.
Q#4
In asfarasIknow, Until all evidence is collected and the body has been cleared by the coroner and all people/witnesses have been questioned and cleared, no one crosses the DO NOT CROSS POLICe line, until it has been COMPLETELY done, it is indefinete that I know of, at least here, a crime scene is a crime scene, no matter what, until all evidence has been collected, all witnesses questioned and the crime lab has collected all items relating to the crime no matter how mistual.
I hope I have answered your question and I am sorry for the questions that could have a two-fold answer.
Although Coroner, deaths and autopsy's are not my forte.
