danak7@... asked this question on 12/21/1999:
Why can't I learn what I want to learn? Why can i only have 2 electives throughout every year of highschool? Why, if I want to write books and learn languages do I need to learn what kind of rocks are located where on this earth, and on other planets. And why do I need to learn which part of the flower produces polin when I'm absolutely positive that when I'm 40 I'll be teaching English class at my daughter's elemtary school? Why is society so dictatorial without even knowing it?! (If possible, email me with an answer at: Danak7@aol.com)

Danak, I have been told throughout my life that we need to take History, Science, and algebra so we will have a well rounded education. I am a Senior in College and you have to take a certain amount of classes in English, math, Science, Social Science, and Humanities so you will have a well rounded education. Society makes up rules according to values that they think everyone should follow and they do it basically because they can. If you don`t follow the norm they you are considered abnormal and thats why most people do what society says we should do.
