What is going on with same sex unions? Is the Chruch influences the law? Would appreciate your opinions.

Greetings!
First of all, I want to say that regardless of the sex, people in love should be allowed to marry. The government and/or the church have not right to say what does or does not constitute love.
Ok, off of my soapbox now. Regardless fo the fact that there is to be a very distinct separation between church and state, it has and never will happen. The church has been a major influence in governmental politics since the beginning of government. Now, it seems that if the Christian Church is not lobbying toward against an issue they feel that their God would think immoral, then they are the congressman that share the beliefs of the church. It sickening. The only way to have a complete separation fo church and state is to have a completely non-religious basis in the political offices.
The church has condemned same sex marriages as being immoral and Congress has wanted to make sure they keep the votes, so they go along with it. I have heard of a few states that are contemplating legalizing these, but we all know how difficult that will be.
Anyway, as the Circle of Life returns to the Beginning, I wish the Brightest Blesings to you and yours...
