I have two female friends ages 14 and 15, who are seeing a pyscologist and were NOT prescribed to an anti-depressant. I am not sure what kind of anti-depressant they are taking, but they take over 8 at a time to give them a high. I would like to know what the side effects are and how it could affect them at this amount. I am very worried about them. Could a type of mix with other drugs like alcohol, pot, or an extreme amount of Robotussin be fatal?

It is extremely difficult to ascertain as what the side effects are as you do not know the name of the anti-depressant, It is detrimental to make any coctail or perscribed drugs with over the counter medication. You have a duty of care here, it sounds like they are indulging in back-yard chemical anti-depressants, what you need to do if you can is find out the name of the drugs they are taking and report it to their psychologist. I know this sounds like it is making you out to be a snitch, but as you really need to keep them as friends and the next time you get together it isn't at their funeral.. you need to do this. There is also the possibility of them both going drug shopping. What I mean here is that both go to different doctors and get repeat perscriptions and use many different anti-depressants at a time. This is not only stupid but could have such side effects that death is actually a better outcome. I know this sounds extremely harsh to you but I have seen many people OD, and have been called on occasion to identify the bodies of people who have tried to reach the high but have gone beyond that stage. If the parents do not know about this an anonymous letter to them outlining your concerns will bring this to their attention. Another possibility is whether their own mother/father are taking perscription medication and they have been stashing the odd one or two until they have got their desired dosage. I wish you well.... for your sake and the sakes of your friends. :)Jillyk.
