The electric shock is called ECT. I have seen patients that it has helped tramendously!! After the session (which only takes about an hour) you will feel groggy, and have a head ache. They usualy give you something for the head ache. Your short term memory will be gone, but later in the day you will start to remember things. Make sure you write down your phone number, and things like that. What it does is it makes your brain produce more chimicals such as saratone...The proceadure isn't dangerous at all. I have seen many patients have this, and it is amazing as to how helpful the ect's are. Usualy the Doctors, want to do them in a series. He/she will discuss that with you in the office. They can also do it on a out patient basis. I do wish you luck and I hope that I have helped. Good Luck, and take care.
