Does a person suffering from depression ever get completely happy or do they just get to the point that they can tolerate life? I am a forty-eight year-old woman that has been depressed for the last 20 years. I have been on numerous antidepressants and am presently taking Zoloft. I have had some therapy too. I am to the point now that I can tolerate life and do just enough to get by. Maintaining a chain of thought is almost impossible. I will start a project and soon give up on it. I have very little interest in anything, and prefer doing nothing, if what I want to do is any difficulty at all. How do people get and maintain enthusiasm in things? How does one get to the point that they want to get out of bed in the mornings?

As far taking medications they seen to get up enough to get you by and able to do some of the things you are able to do. Time to time you feel some happy feeling but feel so & so most of the time.
May I suggest even though it been done by you before, go out get involved in some social function even though how hard it may be to keep an train of thought or sustain an meaniful feeling for accomplishing things in area that may be of interested to you. There no need for you to be trapped in your own home and prisioner in it. Get out take a walk or go to an social functions of your choice or go to concerts of music that you like. You may have to force yourself to do it but do it. This may help you in your inner being to ease some of the down spell you are feeling. So give your all and take care.
