Is there anything I can do to allay my depression? Somedays are better than others, but sometimes I find it hard to even get out of bed in the morning.

Hello, anonymous! I am wondering if your depression is something you've recently experienced, or if it's been ongoing and diagnosed by a psychiatrist. If you're just feeling a little "down", it should pass in a few days. Try to get outside, spend time with your family and friends. I know you may not feel like it, but I've found that once you start doing something to take your mind of your mood, you'll start to feel better.
If your symptoms have been present for a month or more, you should see a psychiatrist. This does not mean you're "crazy" or "weak". A psychiatrist can test you to find out if you're suffering from depression or something els, and then begin proper treatment, whether it's medication, therapy, or whatever.
While I'm not a doctor (I don't play one on TV, either), I have used St. John's Wort with some relief. You can buy it just about anywhere. You should use caution when using herbal remedies, though, because the FDA doesn't monitor them as they do other drugs.
Finally, there are some realy good websites and on-line suport groups out there. One is www.depression.com. Check it out.
Good luck! genea
