Does lithium have side effects or addictive. Are there better alternatives in your opinion? I am using Wellbutrin and taking 300 mgs in the morning once per day. I need a mood stablizer, thus the possible need for Lithium. I have seen something that says the max dosage at one time should not exceed 150 mg per dosage. Do you have an opinion on that? thanks hstrunk100@aol.com

Lithium does have side effects. Some of them include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vertigo, muscle weakness and a dazed feeling. These frequently disappear after stabilization of therapy.
Please don't think that I am a doctor. I am not. There is plenty of information out on the web about this and many other drugs. If you want a good detailed description of this drug I recommend that you visit this website: http://www.mentalhealth.com/drug/p30-l02.html#Head_1. This is a great website because it covers a good portion of all the concerns you may have.
Also, if you have other questions or concerns, please see your doctor.
In all truth, I don't have much experience with a lot of antidepressants. I have been taking Paxil for the last several months and it has helped me quite a bit. I hope this comes close to helping you with your questions and concerns. Write back if you would like.
