I have tried Zoloft and Prozac. Neither of them helped much. My problem seems to be depression rather than bipolarism. I seem to be either depressed or just plain cold, not feeling anything, like I'm in a fog, no passion. I've also had chronic constipation for a long time. But, I've noticed that when I take just ONE little hit off a joint, that I suddenly seem to wake up and get a realization of what's going on. It's like I've been asleep for a long time and I'm just noticing reality, for both the good and bad parts of my self. I can feel extreemly euphoric because I suddenly remember how unique and special I am if I just open up and come out of my shell, but at the same time I get a little depressed from also realizing all the time I've wasted hiding in my shell which I'm not even aware of until taking that one hit from the joint. It only takes one hit. Also, I have better bowel movements from that hit. Sounds funny, I know. I know that some will say that of course I feel good, your smoking marijuana! But, it's only one hit. Of course, it has it's bad side effects. So, the question I have is, is there an antidepressant that has similar results? I'm talking about the waking-up effect. Hi
Firstly I am a chronic suferer of, chronic, depression caused by constant, chronic, pain...I say chronic because that is exactly what it is..
Recently I was in hospital, for a full six weeks, with a group of other sufferers similar to me. One young lady, someone I now call a friend, and am happy to do so, "after all six weeks in the same ward tends to forge close friendships between some".. she asked me about smoking pot.. I said yes I would try it if it was available to me...I have no idea how to get any. She takes just one joint a day, in the evening, and, she tells me, she sleeps well and has no major side effects and, clearly, no adiction, given she just uses one a day, as you say you do.
I feel that if it helps then why not...I would, as I say, give it a go if I had the chance...I already smoke standard fags so it shouldn't be too hard for me.
As for medication?? I take Prozac, with no side effects and some relief, as well as Prothiaden or Dothapin, this is a great help, at night mainly...It really does relax me..no doubt about that at all. I have split my dose, I take two 75mg tabs a day, as I say I have split them so I take one mid afternoon..2/3pm and the other before bed...they help a great deal I promise you.
Given it seems that these have the same effect as the pot...it may be worth looking at..and it has to be cheaper than pot? Either way if the pot helps good luck to you if not then maybe see if any doctor can prescribe the Prothiaden for you...
Best wishes
Dave (UK)
