I have been on Paxil for three weeks now for anxiety and although most of the bothersome side effects have lessened I still experience a very annoying one, tightness in my throat at times. I was told by a nurse that it usually goes away between 4 to 6 weeks. Is that so ? Is there a chance it will never go away as long as I am still on Paxil ? Also the bottom number on my blood pressure is up over 90 for the first time ever. Could that be another side effect and if so will that also go away ? I would really appreciate you educated insight on this matter.
Thank You,

Dear Cheryl, Hi, my name is Alice and I think I can offer you some information regarding the side effects you are having from Paxil. But before I say anything, I must ask are you not being monitored during these first few weeks you have began taking this medication? Your blood levels should be checked, your blood pressure monitored and just your general well-being should have been checked weekly, in the beginning. Do you know what your blood pressure was before the Paxil? You really should consult your Dr., as soon as possible!!! Increase in blood pressure is a main side effect of Paxil and a kind of inflammation of the throat or tongue or a kiind of lump in the throat is also a side effect, but it is one of the less common side effects one may experience. Some of these symptoms do go away in time...but how much time can you wait and how troubling is the pain in relationship to the help the medication is giving you. Speak with your Dr., let him/her know how unconfortable you are feeling. There are many other kinds of medications that maybe will work better for you.
Sincerely, @lice (AliceAdvises)
