"At the first, when the gods began to create the sky and the Earth, the Earth was in the greatest possible state of chaos." -- Gen 1:1-2. Translation by A.J. Mattill, Jr. |
And yet for some unknown (possibly occult) reason, the reverends at the ICR cult prefer translations that are known to be false. Such as:
"In the beginning god created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the spirit of god was moving over the surface of the waters." -- Gen 1:1-2. New American Standard[sic]. |
Why would the ICR cult prefer a translation that is known to be faulty? Because the correct translation shows that the Babylonian / Sumerian / Assyrian authors of Genesis 1:1-2 were:
The reverends at the ICR cult know that the ancient Hebrews were not monotheists (The belief that there is only one god): they were henotheist (worship of one god without denying the existence of the tens of thousands of other gods). The ICR cult therefore has a core dishonesty to it; a commitment to deception.
