sbragen asked this question on 4/4/2000:
Is it true that a person who is involved in the mafia will not call the police if a crime has been committed against them?
nizami gave this response on 4/5/2000:
Members of the Italian Mafia and by this I mean, "made men" are obligated to follow the practice known as Omerta, silence. This means no discussion of mafia activities with anyone outside the organization.
If the crime is by another mafiosi, then it's settled by the boss. If by an outsider, then that person usually gets clipped. But never will they call the police, unless they feel that they're going to get killed by their criminal "family."
