What are the characteristics of a paranoid schitzophrenic?
Imhere2listen_help gave this response on 4/19/2000:
A psychotic disorder characterized by severe problems with a person's thoughts, feelings, behavior, and use of words and language. Psychotic symptoms often include delusions and/or hallucinations. These delusions in schizophrenia are often paranoid and persecutory in nature. Hallucinations are usually auditory and may include hearing voices speaking in the third person, as well as to each other, commenting on the patient's deeds and actions. Schizophrenia does not mean "split personality." Most people develop schizophrenia before 30 years of age with some having their first episode in the teenage years. Above is the clinical definition of schizophrenia, a paranoid schizophrenia is in my opinion, two issues combined. Paranoid schizophrenics, have more fear that people are after them, or out to get them, that people are listening to them, or spying on them. I found a site that might give you some information that would help you a great deal in figuring out the differences. The address is www.schizophrenia.com. This site discusses the differences in schizophrenia, and the paranoid version. I hope this information is helpful, and if there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know. If you need a stranger to talk to that you know cares, you know where I am. I hope everything goes well, and take care. Brenda Sue
