for something to be considered a mental disorder, it must interfere with a person's life. The belief in Christ does not do this. It is simply a belief and a philosophy on how to live life. now, how a Christian behaves is not universal among the religion, but unfortunatley the weirdos and militants in all areas make the loudest noise. Some Christians may behave like complete irrational fools. But in my experience the average Christian is as logical and down to earth as the next guy. And most are completely accepting of science even evolution, including the Pope. of course there are wingnuts. those who say psychology is a fraud because insanity is caused by demons(my personal favorite) or that we never landed on the moon because that would violate the firmament. but i have found these to be rare, most recognize science as vital, and understand that religion is a private choice and do not preach or force it onto others. so what can be done about this "disorder", absolutely nothing, and that is as it should be. its a free country, we all have the right to believe as we choose. and dont worry, science will move right along despite protests of fundies, it always has. and a good psychologist would treat a Christian patient the same way they would treat any patient of any belief or lack there of, with compassion and concern for their problem, putting aside bias and doing their job. I would also like to point out that i have many friends who believe in ESP, demon possesion, oija boards and ghosts. i do not view them as mentally disturbed, just as people who see things differently than i do and believe accordingly.
