Have at it, friends.

It is very unlikely that you know me and just as unlikely that I have met you before. You may live in a different part my home state, Washington, or a different part of the United States, or maybe even a different part of the world.

Nevertheless, no matter who you are or where you are, in some ways we are very much alike. We most all desire the best experiences life has to offer, both for ourselves and our loved ones. We most all desire fulfilling and meaningful relationships. We all have physical needs which must be met. And, we most all have spiritual needs.

Because my desire is not to offend you or tell you anything you would rather not hear I encourage you, in this very moment to stop and consider whether you want to read any further. This message is of a spiritual nature.

Dear Friend,

I want to share with you from my heart the most important thing that really matters in life.

Under the veil of very human heart is a deep desire for the eternal. You and I know that we are only passing through this world. We're only here for a short period of time. Is this life all there is? If there is eternal life beyond the grave, how can you know it? More importantly, how can you secure it?

I grew up in a middle class suburb in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Right in the heartland of the United States. Strong values and ideology were taught in my home and at school. I was taught that "If you work hard and do good - you will be successful and happy in life." I was taught to "set your goals to achieve whatever your heart desires."

When I graduated from the University of Minnesota in the early 80's, I aimed high and went for the gusto! I set my heart on searching for fun and pleasure. I soon found myself basking in the bleached sand beaches of Waikiki. What a change from the cold arctic blast of the Midwest winters. Life was good! Or was it?

Three years in paradise was just about enough for this boy. Unhappiness and loneliness soon crept in and took control of my very being. It seems as though I was trapped in quicksand and kept sinking deeper.

Eager to solve this crisis in my life, I set my heart on searching for power and money. There's an old clich=E9 you hear over and over again, "Money can't buy happiness." I set out to prove it was wrong. After all, I reasoned, if you're rich, you have money and money can buy the things that make you happy. I soon found myself working for an investment firm in San Francisco. A city of riches and fame, power and wealth. Was I happy? No! Some of the most unhappy people are in the upper echelons of society. Marin County is one of the richest counties in the Bay Area, and yet it has the one of the highest divorce rates in the country. A whopping 70% and rising!

Many of us are addicted to destructive substances and behaviors that ensnare us. We are pressed to search for happiness and peace of mind outside of ourselves because inside we're troubled by depression, boredom, stress, poor self-esteem, conflict, anxiety or peer pressure. We try to find relief in drugs, alcohol, gambling, pornography, food, work, unhappy relationships, just to name a few. I've seen so many families torn apart by these and other destructive habits. Perhaps you're struggling with some of these things in your life. Listen my friend, I don't profess to have all the right answers or formulas to life's endless puzzles. But I do know one thing, as human beings we have the ability to choose our own destiny. The ability to choose our own path. God has given us that CHOICE.

The Bible tells us, There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. (Proverbs 14:12)KJV

Perhaps you are already traveling down the same road that I've taken. Or perhaps you are considering the same path that I've taken. Maybe you're asking yourself, "What will become of me?"

In an age of change, what can we really believe in? With so many variables, where are the constants? Is there hope beyond the seeming dark tunnel of this life?

Let me tell you, there is definitely hope at the end of the tunnel! I'd like to share a book with you that really changed my perspective on life. It addresses the issues of this life and the life beyond.

The book that helped change my life is "STEPS TO CHRIST - HOW TO KNOW HIM BETTER." I was touched by the easy reading - simple message of God's Love. Jesus taught that there are eternal truths which last forever. These life-changing truths will provide answers to your deepest questions. They will provide moral direction in your life. They will provide security in this world of uncertainty and chaos.

I invite you to read this little book for yourself in the quiet of your own home, or space, no one looking over your shoulder, no pressure--just you and the book. A friend and I have taken the time to publish "Steps to Christ" on the Internet to share with you--free, no gimmicks. Won't you take a few moments and visit our website, http://www.gift-books.com.=09

You must have a millions questions racing through your head. Hold it Ken, I grew up in the Christian home and went to church every Sunday with my parents. I've heard just about everything under the sun from the pulpit and Sunday School.

Perhaps you have, but do you know about Him or do you know Him?
