Why God Allows Alcohol, Illegal Drugs,
Tobacco and Sexually Transmitted diseases to Exist

When the God of evolution chooses to develop a species in a certain direction, He creates enemies for that species that kill off the members of that species that don't meet His requirements. God wants caribou to be strong and fast so He made wolves who catch and eat the weaker slower caribou. Slow weak wolves who lack cunning don't survive either. Down through the ages the two species shape each other. Short giraffes starve to death. Clumsy squirrels fall to their deaths. Trees that do not grow taller than surrounding trees die from lack of light. Mice and rabbits who are not alert get caught and eaten by owls, hawks and eagles.

God wants Human beings to develop our forebrains, which cause our ability to think ahead towards the future. This trait is vital not only for the human race, but for all other life upon Earth. Human beings have two abilities that make us invaluable to the eco-system, and both of these depend on our ability to think ahead. We can prevent the kind of disaster that probably destroyed the dinosaurs by using our nuclear weapons to deflect incoming asteroids, and we can spread life to other worlds and other solar systems.

So the enemies of the Human race, that the God of evolution has picked out for us, weed out those individuals who lack foresight.

Alcoholism can be avoided, simply by thinking ahead to the possible consequences of drinking alcohol, and calmly saying, "no thanks" every time an alcoholic beverage is offered. The same can be said for the consequences of using tobacco and illegal drugs. Sexually transmitted diseases can also usually be avoided by using one's brain to practice self control and waiting until marriage, and demanding that any potential spouses be tested for everything first. Even homosexuals are capable of monogamy. Foresighted people read and are aware of the fact tests show one in five condoms leak. They don't depend on a thin piece of rubber to save their lives.

Other enemies of the Human race follow the same pattern. Many, though unfortunately not all, automobile accidents can be avoided by using one's foresight to be very careful when driving. And those who use their foresight wear seat belts and buy cars with air bags so that they are more likely to survive an automobile accident if they do have one. They keep their cars in good shape and thus avoid accidents caused by malfunctioning automobiles.

The consequences of poverty can often be avoided by using one's forebrain to get a good education and saving and planning for tomorrow.

The consequences of having a baby out of wedlock can be avoided by using one's forebrain to practice self control until marriage.

On and on the list goes. Almost every enemy the Human race has, can be avoided by using one's forebrain to look ahead towards the future.

Christ compared the Human race to a grapevine. He taught In the Gospel of John, chapter 15, that God "cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bare fruit, He prunes."

The pruning may be painful, but due to the pruning, the Human race will bear much fruit someday. The future is a goal worth all the pain and suffering the Human race is going through. Someday we will spread life to countless other worlds and know pleasures and wonders unbelievable by today's standards: All this because our loving Creator took the time to prune His vineyard! Sometimes His love is not gentle. Sometimes it is agonizingly painful. God practiced "Tough love." long before the phrase was invented, but it is still love.
