These folks simply cannot resist the urge to subvert this nation by any means necessary. They simply do not understand the wisdom of the separation-of- church-and-state in a poly-religious society and seem to fail to learn the lessons we can learn from the attempts at theocracy in the various hells-on- earth that constitute much of the middle east. Instead they take squirm and wheedle their way in a manner that would make any fifth-columnist, anti- american proud.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Mormon church, acting in the wake of criticism by civil libertarians, has told its missionaries to stop volunteer tutoring in public school classrooms.

Don LeFevre, spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, made the announcement Wednesday, the day after a school district north of Salt Lake City heard complaints that missionaries could use schools as grounds for proselytizing students.

LeFevre said that the church's missionary department limits volunteer projects to short term efforts. Ongoing tutoring of students in the classroom exceeds that limitation, he said.

Members of the church's worldwide missionary force of 57,000 have been encouraged to participate in community volunteerism for the past decade.

LeFevre said that volunteerism will continue, but "ongoing service[sic] in schools will no longer be approved for our missionaries."
