Is there such a thing as an afterlife in Wicca? How does it, if it exists, compare to the views of Christians or Moslems? If it doesn't exist, what do Wicca's see as reason to life a good or fulfilling life?
Breena gave this response on 5/17/2000:
Most Wiccans believe in the concept of the "Summerland" where we go to 'recharge' before we are reborn into a new life (reincarnation). Often there is a belief that we will sort through our memories of past lives at this time and decide which ones we should 'keep' and hold close to our hearts.
Some Wiccans believe you reincarnate with the same group of people throughout your lives, but I don't think that gives you the 'whole concept' of learning that is the purpose of all of these lives--to become a knowledgable and loving being [my opinion].
Each person's needs in this life are different and thus their concept of a good and fulfilling life is different and molded to his or her necessary learning experience. Some wiccans also believe in the concept of karma where your next reincarnated form depends on your behavior in this world.
Like Christian views, it is a deeply personal view that all wiccans have about their Summerland. In essence, I believe what you expect to happen will happen, no matter what that is. :o)
