I've been studying religions and faiths for about ten years. I've pretty much got who believes in what. Wicca however, still seems to be "calling" me. The problem is I live in a country in which that kind of "religion" is not very easy to study. Brazil is a majorly catholic nation and, trust me, I've looked, but I haven't found any covens much less anyone to talk to about this. How do I start out in this solitary path? Is there any basic literature I should read? How do I know that wicca is really "right" for me? Are only people of nordic ascent capable of the practice? If anyone out there can help.... I'll be truly grateful :) Thanks!!

Ah I see you have a good grounding in most religions then, if that is the case and you think Wicca is calling then that may be the case. However there are a number of Earth Based Relgions out there which all follw the same principles. As I hope you have found out in your studies. I my self have done a similar search, and My religion come close to wicca, However it has no name, it is personal to me, but has groundings in Wicca and it's roots. I suggest that you should consider such a path your self, as Wicca may not fit quite with what you beleve. I myself am a practiceing Witch as well, this also can be clasified as a Religion. This also has it's roots in Wicca, and many other Earth Based Religions.
To Start down the path you need to find your true path and I found mine over a long time of thinking what do I really believe in. It is possable to do this on your own, you do not need to find other at first, and when you are sure you have your path sorted. You should branch out and find other who think in a similar manner, they will be some near you. there are many sources of litriture on the subject however I believe that religion os personal thing, and no one can tell you what is and what is'nt, but they can help guide you on your Journey.

here you will find under pagan, Teh Book of Shadows which will give you the basic's of the religion, however this version is edited by Alister crowley, adn there for some of the section have odd things in them but as I said before, it is a personal thing, so you should read this, and any books or information you can find by Janet and Stuart Farrar. And alter it to what you personally believe, and do not follow it to the letter. Both me an my Partner, have the J & S Farrar version of the book of Shadows, and find this a most excelent source and have adapted many of the ceromonys to our own personal beliefs. However being alone, you may have to find information on Hedgewitch Magic, which will help. As most of the Book of Shadows is for 2 people, but can be adapted.
And you can come from anywhere as Wicca/Witchcraft is Universal, and welcomes anybody. Ther are plenty of people who are willing to help, but there are many people out ther who have read some books and think they nwo everything. Which I do not, I went through years of thinking, and a personal journey, which brought me to my beliefs. It was no one incident, or one book, as I did not know of the Book of shadows until I had nearly finished my journey.
I hope you find the right path, and you meet many people of similar beliefs in your area (You may find that many of the Tribal religions, that still are abound in some of the less accessable areas of Brazil, have the same base funimentals as Wicca this may be worth looking in to. As through my readings I hae come to find that Many of the tribal religions, all follow the fundimentals of Earth based religions.)
Anyway I could talk for days on this so I will leave you to your own path.
Blessed be!
