HOW DO YOU PRACTICE AS A SOLITARY,AND WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE?
hagatha gave this response on 2/23/2000:
Part 1:
How? In general I study what I can find, and experiment within my own boundaries of ethics. Because it is just me, my rituals tend to be less "ritualized" and more focused. Blending the energy of a large group (even one that is focused on the task at hand) can be tricky and time consuming. As a solitary, I needn't worry about that. If you wanted more specific information, like how I do a specific task, let me know :-)
Part 2:
As a solitary, one of the advantages I find is not having to put up with the politics of the group. I also prefer to be in control of my learning and to determine what I will and won't do, rather than having to follow the will of the group. As a solitary, I have a one on one relationship with the gods, and the universe. I prefer that to having a priest or priestess acting as intermediary. It is however a personal choice. Neither path is the only "right" path. Some benefit from practicing on their own, others need a group to guide them. What matters is you are happy with the direction you are going, and that you are learning and growing as you go.
