What is the advantage of being a wiccan?
The_Oracle gave this response on 1/2/2000:
There is not really any advantage to practicing ANY religion other than personal or spiritual satisfaction. As far as Wicca in comparison to other religions, well again it is a matter of personal choice. In my opinion, Wicca allows more freedom of choice in how you worship. Wicca allows for a wider variety of beliefs. Wicca further does not hold your immortal soul in jeopardy if you do not worship, or choose to worship differently. The main thing that Wicca does not do is offer salvation. For some, who beleive that the soul is immortal and is not in need of being saved, this is a great thing. Most who practice Wicca view it is a more pure religion, or a more primal and innocent power. They tend to view the other religions as more corrupted by man, or less pure than Wicca. Wicca being the older and more basic religion in their point of view is better than "newer" and more socially accepted religions. Others do not view Wicca as a religion at all, but more as a way to manifest a natural power that is with in everyone and everything. Similar in some aspects to what the “Star Wars” movies defined as “The Force.” No, there are not lightsabers in the Wiccan belief system, but many of the ideas of how the Force surrounds us, and how Wicca describes the power of the Goddess as being all around us are similar. A strange comparison, but one that merits some credit.
Hopefully this will help. The_Oracle
