A friend of mine has a velvet v drive that has a fluid leak around the cap that is near the area where the v dirve is attached to the prop shaft. To help locate this I wil start at the area where the prop shaft is attached to the v drive by a coupling. This housing is just past this point and is leaking transmission fluid. How can we replace this housing and is there packing or a seal that has to be repaced. Does the v drive have to be taken out or can we turn it on its back and work on it in the boat? If we can replace the housing where do we get the part and how does the housing come off? Thanks for your reply and can you E-Mail me the answer at Tenspeed2@aol.com

sounds like the unit may be too full of fluid. only holds about a pint and a 1/2.most of the gaskets are made of heavy paper.take the drive out of the boat to work on it.
